To reduce energy consumption, the compressor’s fan motor helps keep the condensing coil clean. Each time the compressor cycles on, the fan runs in reverse to blow dirt and buildup off the coil. Though it isn’t intended to replace preventive maintenance, this feature improves performance and maximizes the unit’s lifespan.
